Production

We process our own extra virgin olive oil on our Penfield Gardens site, and we are a contract processor for other growers.

Processing and bottling

The Alfa Laval Oil Processing Machine is a state of the art, fully automatic olive processing machine. Customers can come in and watch as their olives are processed and turned into olive oil.

During harvest we have the capability to run 18 – 24 hours a day, which allows us to press the olives as soon as they have been harvested. Extracting within 6 hours of harvesting gives you a premium quality, and fresh, extra virgin olive oil.

Bovalina became the first plant in the Adelaide Plains to receive an SGS Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification. HACCP is an international principle defining the requirements for effective control of food safety. In 2015 we went the next step and became SQF (GSFI) certified, which is recognised all over the world in the food industry.

The bottling line consists of a SIEM automatic quad block, O.M.A.R heat shrink capsule machine and a PE Labeller. Three machines working together are capable of filling, heat-shrinking and labelling. The SIEM machine has dry air rinse prior to filling, 14 head high speed vacuum filler, a nitrogen injecting system which injects food gas into the bottle before closing, and a single head capping machine which creates a tamper evident cap. The PE Labeller is a three station label machine, providing the option to do a front, back, neck and full wraparound label. Along the production line there is also an 8 head tin filling line capable of filling tins of sizes ranging from 2ltr – 10ltr.

The bottling facility also has the latest technology in inkjet printing, enabling it to spray on bottles and cartons. This equipment allows for spray on of best-before dates, batch numbers, number sequences and the time.
